Domestic Violence Survivor Meetup

Women suffering from violence mostly lack a place where they can express themselves, keeping this in mind, the Trust organised Domestic Violence Survivor Orientation at Sambhavna Institute, Kandbadi. The first session opened with a song that tried to ease the hesitations of the survivor women attending the meeting and create an open environment for conversation. After singing the women expressed their thoughts and experiences saying that they felt very good. In the introduction, 2 women were made to sit face to face and asked to touch each other. Women discussed their name, village, what violence happened, from whom they got help, and what changes have come in their life now. Apart from this, a game of balloons and toothpicks was played, in which the effort to save the balloons was linked to the effort to save oneself from violence.

A Yoga Kriya and a Music Therapy were done. When asked, everyone told their thoughts, someone liked the green grass very much, then someone kept talking about the routine of the house and was asked when women feel happy. Then a Darling movie was shown which all the sisters watched with great interest and attention.

Through such mediums, we tried to understand women in an emotional way and also give them entertainment. In the end, while emphasizing creating a secure network among women, talked about making such a plan that can free us from atrocities.
